Oaxaca hosts one of the top Mexican festivities better known as the "Day of the Dead", a time where we honor the life of the ones who left us. A colorful celebration surrounded by parades, music, customs, delicious drinks, and local spirits like Mezcal. This is a perfect time of the year to also ride on the amazing trail system in the Sierra Norte of Oaxaca, the temperature and riding conditions are prime during this time of the year. Come and experience a ride of a lifetime full of celebrations and awesome trails by the hand of the Transierra Norte team pioneer of the Day of the Dead Enduro race in Oaxaca since 2014.
Day 1: Welcome to Mexico! Your guides will pick you up at the airport and take you to the Transierra Norte HQ. They will help with bike assembly while you have one of our craft beers and a delicious dinner. You will receive a short briefing in regards to the mountain bike adventure you have ahead, and then you'll get to settle in your lodging to then walk around the city, and join some of the Day of the Dead parades while we zip on the first Mezcal of the trip.
Day 2: After a delicious breakfast accompanied by a locally grown and roasted coffee, we will load up the bikes on our shuttle and head up to ride the area where Enduro riding was born in Mexico. All runs will be shuttled, with only one short pedal transfer to our last descent. After dinner, we will visit the most traditional cemetery and join a truly local Day of the Dead celebration.

Day 3: Tonight we are going Mezcal tasting but first, we have a fistful of flowy trails with some of the most amazing dirt. We will chill and have lunch in the mountains before getting ready for the night.
Distance: 20 KM Elevation gain: 210 m Elevation loss: 1880 m
Day 4: The longest day of the week. Early in the morning, we will shuttle to the largest trail network in Oaxaca. We will hike-a-bike for 15 minutes to a beautiful viewpoint where our first descent will start. After lunch, in the middle of the mountains, we will pedal on a mostly flat double-track road surrounded by a pine and oak forest to then drop into the largest descent in Oaxaca. You will go through 3 different types of vegetation, riding on a 500-year-old trail full of fun natural lines. We will visit a Mezcal distillery and a town famous for its handicrafts.
Distance: 30 KM Elevation gain: 210 m Elevation loss: 1475 m
Day 5: With a late start we will head downtown for breakfast and explore the city during the day. We will visit the Zapotec ruins of Monte Alban and head up to the mountains for sunset and night ride. We will chill and spend the night in a beautiful cabin, enjoy a bonfire, as well as a delicious dinner cooked by the local people from the community.
Distance: 12 KM Elevation gain: 140 m Elevation loss: 990 m
Day 6: You will wake up with the sunrise, enjoy a hot chocolate, and shuttle up to your guides' favorite ride. The last trail of the day will drop right behind your lodging in the local trail network of Oaxaca City. You will have the evening free to go shopping or explore some other areas of the city. Your guides are always available to point you in the right direction!
Distance: 26 KM Elevation gain: 175 m Elevation loss: 2200 m
Day 7: We are saving the best for last: a great combination of trails, 100% shuttled, will wrap up this mountain bike adventure. We will have dinner and drinks together in one of Oaxaca's classic restaurants.

Day 8: That's a wrap! Your guides will make sure you arrive on time to the airport to catch your flight. We hope we can come to visit your home trails or to host you back in Mexico soon!
